OPI’s AmazON AmazOFF

I haven’t been excited about a color in a  long time, as evident by the lack of posts! This OPI is the perfect blend of blue, green and turquoise. I’m staring at my nails as I type at work all day!

OPI Amazon Amazoff

OPI Amazon Amazoff

Be wary though, as Alli over at The Daily Varnish says “I do think OPI should have called this polish AmazON… Amazdoesn’twanttocomeoff”. This color is a menace to remove (as with most polishes in this shade).

The formula was a bit surprising for OPI though. Usually OPI requires 2 coats for full coverage – but this one needed a light third. I was a bit annoyed that after the second coat I could still see some streaking when I held my nails up to the light. So with a base coat, 3 coats of polish, and a top coat – my nails look and feel thicker than usual. But the gorgeous color makes up for all of it!

I couldn’t resist stamping it! Here it is with Cheeky’s CH15

Hello, just wanted to share my current manicure! This is PolishedbyKPT’s Havest Moon stamped over with a black.

So I’ve been wearing a lot of thermals because they’re so unique! I catch myself checking my nails throughout the day to see if they’re transitioning or if they’re a solid color. Keeps me interested in my manicure for longer than just one day. I was already wearing this polish when I got a my plates in the mail!

I just received these plates in the mail last night and had to try it right away – and I am so pleased! It’s Bundle Monster’s “Create your own” 2013 collection. I was looking at the designs and they’re all unique and easy to wear. I have to warn you that the designs do not pick up easy on the Konad rubber stamp – I’ll have to buy another stamper to see if it’ll work better.

We’ve got the blues… (Part 1)

Azure. Cobalt. Indigo. Sapphire. Denim. Cerulean. The list of blues is never ending!  Blue polishes have a special place in our hearts here at MasonLuxe, for it is one of the most versatile colors in the palette. What makes blue a staple in our nail polish collection is it’s ability to adapt into any occasion and time. Blues are truly cross-seasonal and be worn any time throughout the year. We had a chance to share with you some of our favorite blues in our previous posts, but we just didn’t feel that all of our blues had a true opportunity to shine. We’ve brought out our blues from our favorite brands (OPI, China Glaze, Orly, Essie, Julep, Zoya) to swatch and showcase them to you all!

Here are some of our favorite shots from Orly, OPI, Color Club, & Essie! Stay tuned for Part 2 featuring Juelp, China Glaze, & Zoya swatches!

If you’ve been a nail polish fiend as long as I have, then you probably remember the days when holographic nail polishes were a rare thing. For us holographic lovers, we remember gawking over Nfu Oh‘s holographic nail polish collection and desperately trying to find a way to get our hands on them.  We also remember the days of bidding $20+ on those discontinued OPI Designer Series holos. Fast forward to 2013, and we have a spew of nail lacquer companies boarding the holo-ship. From Color Club, China Glaze, Layla, and even Urban Outfitters, the holographic nail polish collections are endless. Here’s a round-up of some of my favorite colors from the Color Club, China Glaze, & Urban Outfitters holographic collections for 2013!

Gallivanting in the park

Had some free time so I went to a nearby park to shoot some photos! I never leave home without some nail polish – these are some of my favorites recently from Julep and Essie. I’m still trying to hold onto some summer colors because it is only August after all! Just wanted to share with you all. At the bottom of the post are some swatches; these colors are just too gorgeous.

Swatch time! I took these in my backyard about 10 am. There was plenty of sunlight but my yard is surrounded by taller buildings so I get a nice well-lit area with no glare! How did I get so lucky.

China Glaze Texture Collection Summer 2013

I’ve been a bit obsessed with this collection. I wasn’t totally convinced at first, but after 3 trips to the store and oogling the display, I can now say I am the proud owner of the entire collection! The China Glaze Texture collection is different from the other polishes in that it doesn’t use glitter as its “texture” but actually grainy bits of sand-like material.

Chasing the Sun (End of Summer Polish Round Up)

Looking to make one last summer splash? Here are some of our favorite summer polishes by Essie. With summer coming to an end and Back-to-School looming, these colors are perfect for holding onto the last bit of summer! We took our favorites from the season and will be wearing these until it’s time for boots and sweaters!

Essie's Bikini So Teeny, Tart Deco

Essie’s Bikini So Teeny, Tart Deco

Bikini So Teeny is classic periwinkle with a hint of silver shimmer. This is our go-to periwinkle when we’re feeling a bit whimsical! Ideal for laying out all day in that secret  garden… (Recommended three thin coats. Allow for sufficient drying time in between layers).

Tart Deco is a peachy-coral that is one part flirty & two parts fun. This bright varnish is perfect for bottomless mimosas Sunday brunches with your best girlfriends. They’ll be sure to notice! (Recommended two coats).

Essie Bouncer It’s Me, Where’s My Chauffeur

Essie Bouncer It’s Me, Where’s My Chauffeur

Here at MasonLuxe we have a special love for all shades of blue. Bouncer It’s Me! is a cobalt blue jelly that truly pops when paired with a white polish underneath. At first glance, it’s comparable to our other blue lover, Butler Please. However on application, you’ll find that Butler Please is royal blue with a creme finish, while Bouncer It’s Me! is several shades darker. Bouncer It’s Me! is a guaranteed show stopper on the dance floor.  (Recommended 2 coats, with white underwear & top coat for vibrant color).

Where’s My Chauffeur is a close cousin to one of our personal favorite, In the Cab-ana. It is a bright turquoise with aqua/blue undertones. Comparable to the classic Tiffany’s blue, this polish adds a classy touch to any summer dress. Strap on your favorite sandals and head out to that yacht (and hot) date! (Recommended two coats.)

Essie Come Here, DJ Play That Song

Essie Come Here, DJ Play That Song

Red is a staple for all seasons, but this shade of red has us convinced that it belongs in the Summer rotation. Come Here! is a flamboyant coral red that screams mischievous. Careless & free, you are painting the town red tonight! (Recommended two coats along with high shine top coat).

Light up your summer nights with DJ Play That Song. Fresh, fluorescent, and flashy, DJ Play That Song is the “purp-fect” blend of purple & magenta. Like its partner in crime (Bouncer It’s Me!), DJ Play That song is an electric neon jelly that dazzles in daylight and nightlight alike.  (Unlike Bouncer It’s Me!, DJ Play That Song is better worn without a white polish underneath. Two coats + long lasting, shiny top coat).

Essie The More The Merrier, Butler Please, In The Cab-ana

Essie The More The Merrier, Butler Please, In The Cab-ana

The More The Merrier is a unique midori chartreus, with yellow undertones that’s perfect for a fun backyard bbq. With your favorite cocktails in hand, invite your neighbors over for a night of good food and good company. Because, after all, the more, the merrier, right? (Three thin coats is recommended as polish does come on thick).

Butler Please is a radiant blue that catches the attention of any room. Trust us, if you are going to only buy one blue this whole season, buy Butler Please. PLEASE! (Application can be difficult and clumpy but the key to perfecting this blue mani is painting two to three thin coats, and smoothing out all the clumps with a high quality top coat).

In The Cab-ana is our pool-side favorite. A true azure blue, this lovely color shines by the pool, in the pool, or, in…the cabana. (Recommended three thin coats as this polish also has a thick formula).

Which colors will you be hanging onto before summer ends? Share with us how you’ll be holding onto the last of summer and your favorite summer polishes!
